Research Officer

Afsara Binte Mirza is working as a Research Officer at ICCCAD. She pursued her Undergraduate Degree in Economics and International Studies from Elizabethtown College, Pennsylvania, USA, in 2019. Prior to joining ICCCAD, she was a Results and Knowledge Management Intern at UN Women’s headquarters in New York for 6 months. Initially after joining ICCCAD, Afsara had the opportunity to work with World Wildlife Fund for Nature on “Transforming People Protecting Landscapes and Seascapes (PPLS) initiative into a Nature-based Solutions (NbS).” As Bangladesh is currently formulating its National Adaptation Plan (NAP), Afsara was the co-author of the Financial Mechanism working paper. She analyzed the international and domestic sources of climate finance; resource mobilization strategy; and listed potential new sources for financing NAP of Bangladesh. Recently, she also co-authored a policy brief on Just Transition for Bangladesh to evaluate the impacts of COVID-19 and climate change on the informal sector’s workers. Afsara also contributed to the project ‘Critical Analysis on Nature Based Solutions (NbS) related to Water and WASH services in Bangladesh.’ Her research interest lies on nature-based solutions, Just Transition, National Adaptation Plans, Indigenous Peoples role in climate change adaptation and Gender Equality.
