SUMMARY:RISE II -Youth Leadership Programme
DESCRIPTION:RISE (Rethink and Innovate for a Sustainable Environment) is an initiative of the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) supported by the PROKAS programme at British Council Bangladesh. This is a great opportunity to learn more about different aspects of climate change. This programme is aimed at early university students who are passionate about the environment and has some prior knowledge about environmental management and climate change.\nThis programme is both guided and self – guided. The 1st year of the programme will mostly be guided which will consist of workshops and training. The 2nd year of the programme will consist of learning visits to climate vulnerable spots and students will work on their group reports. Student engagement will be quarterly meaning activities will be done in every 3/4 months of the year. Last year we organised a Youth Retreat under the CFTM project phase I which brought 20 university students from all over Bangladesh. They learned about the basics of climate change\, how to integrate different socio-economic aspects to it and how can young people be involved in climate change action. DESCRIPTION:The International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) is hosting another Climate Youth Retreat for 2018!!\nThe Climate Youth Retreat is a innovative program that engages students to really and deeply engage with key climate change issues in the country. This year’s focus will be climate change and food security\, particularly in the context of future scenario planning.\nIt will be part of a project with the University of Oxford\, Oxfam GB and Oxfam BD\, titled “Zero Hunger\, Zero Emissions”\, which uses scenarios building methodology to determine whether or not Bangladesh can both lower emissions and increase food security (beyond just calorie count) in the distant future. \n\n\n\nProgram Details\n– The program will be held over three days (from the evening of Saturday\, September 1st to the afternoon of Tuesday\, September 4th 2018)\n-It will be held at a venue in Savar (tbd)\n– Participants will stay overnight at the venue for the duration of the retreat\n– Accommodation\, meals and travel to and from the site will be covered\n– The program will be in Bangla and English\n– Applicants need to be currently enrolled in an university in Bangladesh\n– Apply before August 16th 2018\nIf you have any questions\, feel free to contact ICCCAD staff Rupita Joyee (rupita.joyee21@gmail.com)
