SUMMARY:Capacity-building for enhancing resilience at the local level
DESCRIPTION:ICCCAD and Adaptation Fund are jointly organizing an online event under PCCB umbrella on capacity-building.\nDate: 04 November 2020\nTime: 02:00 pm – 03:30 pm (CET) \,  7:00 pm – 8:30 pm  Bangladesh Time (GMT/UTC +6) \n\nShort description:\nA majority of developing countries have put capacity-building as a condition to implementation of their NDCs. As adaptation is inherently region and locale-specific even within a country\, there is a strong need to build capacities at the local level\, which in turn will enhance resilience and adaptive capacities both at local community and national levels. The disadvantaged local communities are hit hardest from climate change impacts and the new and lasting scourge of Covid-19. So\, a bottom-up approach to capacity-building to enhance resilience at this level is key to address the risks posed by climate change to local actors. Local communities have a groundswell of traditional/indigenous knowledge-based coping mechanisms and capacities\, and in order to deliver capacity-building that leads to sustained enhancement of skills\, knowledge\, tools\, equipment\, and other resources needed to build up resilience at the local level\, it is important to understand how to tap into this knowledge to mitigate and manage disasters. Another key issue is how to support the locally-led adaptation capacity development/enhancement more effectively. With this perspective\, we invite you all to have a frank dialogue on how to address the challenges and leverage the opportunities of locally-led capacity-building initiatives.\nThis virtual event is organized by the Paris Committee on Capacity-Building (PCCB) Network of the UNFCCC\, in partnership with ICCCAD and Adaptation Fund as part of the Momentum for Change initiative spearheaded by the UN Climate Change secretariat to shine a light on the enormous surge of support for activities underway across the globe that are moving the world toward a highly resilient\, low-carbon future.\n\n \n Register Here \n\nFor more details and information about the events\, please visit this webpage:\nhttps://unfccc.int/event/capacity-building-for-enhancing-resilience-at-the-local-level\nFor any further queries\, please contact: Mahmuda Akter (mahmuda.mity@icccad.org)\, ICCCAD
